Where to Place Safety Signs in Workplace

The implementation of safety and health policies such as the mandatory use of safety signs is obligatory. Safety signs should be placed properly to serve the purpose it is suppose to serve. Here are some of the requirements of the law in as far as the placing safety sign in construction industry is concerned:
Areas where there are potential risks of falling objects. How many times have you heard of workers meeting their death because of hammer that fell from the third floor in a high rise building? Perhaps, you may have also heard of people getting flattened literally after heavy equipment from the higher part of the structure fell. These are serious scenarios which should be given due attention by employers.

Areas where there are potential risks for falling. Not only objects can fall, even workers themselves can fall when not observing proper care or even when observing proper care when the areas where possibility of falling are not placed with
safety sign or warning signs.

Areas where explosives and flammable substances are used or stored. Safety signs in handling areas such as these should be made visible and legible enough to be read and understood by workers. Not only workers’ lives are at stake. Even the establishment itself runs the risk being burned or consumed by chemical fire.

Areas where tripping or slipping hazards. Tripping and slipping incident are a frequent occurrence in the workplace. When slippery areas are identified, the safety officer must immediately provide safety signs to warn people of the impending danger. Slippery hazards also exist when cleaning the floor or when applying liquid in surfaces. Safety signs, therefore, are needed to be placed in these potential areas where risks of slipping or tripping exist.
